Looking Back: Sip & Speak-Easy

As we gear up for our next event series Summer Screenings, we can’t miss the chance to revisit our last event series Sip & Speak-Easy. The series was born out of our desire to provide an amazing experience for Sōsh members. As an online tool Sōsh aims to give insider access to the best activities in San Francisco. We decided to take that one step further by curating amazing experiences of our own. Plus, we like a good a party as much as the next guy :)

The series was a huge success thanks to the close to a thousand guests that attended the four events so we couldn’t move on without a recap of the series you made so wonderful!

A packed house at the Green Room at the Opera.

Sip & Speak-Easy

The series was comprised of four pop-up speakeasies at secret locations all around SF.  Each spot was carefully selected and featured historic landmarks like the Payne Mansion in Pacific Heights and the Vault rooms in the Old Mint building. We featured four cocktails specially made by the good folks at Rye on the Road (the guys behind swanky SF bars: Rosewood, Rye and 15 Romolo) and lots of opportunities to get into character with a photo booth and props for everyone.

Each event was free for Sōsh members- if you could get a password! The last event sold out in less than 10 minutes (despite there being several hundred spots available)!

Fun Facts:

All the Single Ladies:

  • On average password holders were 60% female

Bottoms Up:

  • We served over 3,000 drinks throughout the whole event series!

One of our favorite things to do after every event is pore over the photos from the night.  Here are a few of our favorites but check out our Facebook page for the full album from each event (and don’t forget to tag yourself!)

Don’t Miss: Summer Screenings

Remember, the first event in our next series Summer Screenings is June 21st 2012. We are showing three Hitchcock classics (one per month all summer) on the rooftop of Jones complete with champagne, warm cocktails, s’mores and gourmet popcorn. See you there!

P.S. Wishing you could make those speakeasy cocktails at home?  Thanks to Rye on the Road I’m happy to pass along the drink recipes for the two most popular drinks at the event:

Old Fashioned

2 oz. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
Lump sugar
2 dashes aromatic bitters

Served over ice with orange zest

Spicy Paloma

2 oz. Blanco Tequila
.75 oz. jalapeno agave nectar
2 oz. fresh pink grapefruit juice
2 oz seltzer
Pinch of salt

Serve with a wedge of fresh lime
