Tastemaker: Sarah Lane

Host, Producer, Writer & Editor, TWiT

Sarah Lane has been working to bridge the gap between TV and tech long before the burst of the first internet bubble. Producing, hosting, writing, and editing a number of shows, this jack of all trades lends her many talents to TWiT, where she works on programs such as iPad Today and The Social Hour. When she’s not taking in the latest and greatest on the tech scene, she’s enjoying life in Hayes Valley with her two cats, VC/TechCrunch columnist boyfriend, and some of the best eats, drinks, and views this city has to offer.

What’s your favorite thing to do in your neighborhood?
Hayes Valley is full of so much to do! If it’s a nice day, I might hit up Arlequin’s patio, Mercury Cafe for a caprese sandwich, or the Biergarten. My overall favorite neighborhood joint has got to be Hotel Biron for a glass of wine and free WiFi.

What’s the best way to spend a foggy day?
A long walk to the Lyon Street Steps to run up and down steep stairs in the cool air.

Where do you go to get your creative juices flowing for a new show on TWiT?
I love the Yerba Buena Samovar location for breakfast and tea.

Where do you go to celebrate?
The Rotunda at Neiman’s for champagne and shopping! Or dinner at Sushi Ran in Sausalito.

Where’s your go-to coffee shop?
I’m lucky enough to have a Blue Bottle Coffee and a Ritual Roasters two blocks from me. If I have $2.75 in my wallet, I go to Blue Bottle (since it’s cash only). If not, I use my iPhone Square app at Ritual.

It’s your day off. Where do you go to unplug?
Land’s End in the city, or Sonoma wineries if I feel like a drive.

What makes the Bay Area a good home for TWiT?
We’re surrounded by the companies we talk about every day. Technology is truly being built all around us!
