Casual Italian & Bocce in Napa

Campo means “field” in Italian, like “field of greens,” or food of the land. Fina means fine, as in subtle and elegant, but is also a salute to Rosen and his wife Dawnelise’s two-year-old daughter, Serafina. “Peden has a beautiful, light hand with ingredients, which fits my basic mantra of keeping food as simple and tasty as possible,” Rosen said. “I tend to prepare heartier dishes.”

... you can sit outside, order a couple pints of Russian River Brewing’s Redemption at the concrete bar, make small talk with your date. (The whole thing is modeled after an Italian piazza. And obviously piazzas = date catnip.) But sooner or later, you’re making your way to the regulation-size bocce court and taking down all comers.

The narrow dining room features exposed brick walls, red leather booths and reclaimed fixtures that pay homage to its past as a turn-of-the-century saloon, but the real action is outside on the 65-seat covered back patio where diners can hit the massive outdoor bar or try their hand on the bocce court.
