How to Get There

There are multiple ways to get to the Tourist Club. The most rewarding way is to take the famous Dipsea Trail to the Sun Trail. For info on where to park, read here.

Perched high on Mt. Tam, the German Tourist Club is a bona fide German-style beer house. It boasts beer on tap, board games, and a stunning view, all from the comfort of a lodge. Bring your own picnic to complete the experience. And don't worry — the hike back is a breeze.

To get to the Dipsea trailhead in Mill Valley, head over the bridge and continue north on 101. Take the Stinson Beach exit and merge onto Highway 1. Continue on Almonte Boulevard. At Throckmorton, turn left and then left again on Cascade Way to Molino. Enjoy!

Break out the picnic lunch on one of the decks of this lively alpine chalet in the secluded redwood forest and purchase a German beer or ale. The lodge was built in 1914 by a group of German immigrants, who carted supplies up the mountain by mule or dragged them up manually. Today, the club offers its members hikes, outings and dances. Nonmembers can come on designated weekends or participate in fundraising "fests" held several times a year, featuring German food, music and, of course, beer.
