Muir Beach Bonfire
at Muir Beach
Arrive early—at least a couple of hours before sunset—to snag one of the designated bonfire pits; then take your time roasting marshmallows and howlin' at the moon (and if it howls back, that's the coyotes singing along). At nine o'clock, park rangers will pay a visit, remind you that the beach is closing, and put out your fire.

Pro Tip
"Debating whether you should have a bonfire at Muir Beach vs. Ocean Beach? Muir Beach allows alcohol, but closes promptly an hour after sunset (around 9pm). There aren't very many fire pits, so get there early, and feel free to bring your dogs -- they're allowed too. :)" — Christina Chinn
Prepare Yourself
"Bring plenty of blankets, its not uncommon for wind and fog to sweep in during the evenings." — Sean Bromage
