Artist Talk: Alec Huxley

at 111 Minna Gallery

ArtPoint, in partnership with 111 Minna Gallery, invites members to take a closer look at All the Go Inbetweens, a solo show by Alec Huxley. A member of the Lower Haight Street Mural Collective, you've probably already seen his work. It's on permanent display at the corner of Haight and Buchanan.

With this show at 111 Minna, Huxley explores a wide range of subject matter through a detailed but softened figurative style. A self-taught painter, he captures cinematic-like cityscapes and intimate, familiar-seeming interiors. Ghostlike figures wax and wane through the scenery and at other times, well-dressed men and women wearing space helmets drift amongst the distinctive architecture of San Francisco.

A longtime resident of the Pacific Northwest, Huxley recently relocated to San Francisco’s Lower Haight neighborhood. His background includes graphic design, photography and a career in the printing industry. While in Seattle he studied at The School of Visual Concepts, The Photo Center Northwest and received his BA from the University of Puget Sound. Huxley has been making art full-time since 2009 and is the founder of Adult Flavored Pudding.
