Growing a Garden City: Presentation and Panel

at 18 Reasons

What if we took the CSA - Community Supported Agriculture - Model and applied it to our neighborhoods or even our cities. Missoula, Montana did just that! Tonight Garden for the Environment, Urban Sprouts, and 18 Reasons join forces to help you learn about Missoula's successes and how to take those lessons and apply them to our own communities here.

Growing a Garden City is a story about a diverse group of people in Missoula, Montana who created an "Agricultural Supported Community" by growing food together. Their work offers us a template for how to grow this sort of community movement in our own neighborhoods, schools, and cities. Author Jeremy N. Smith will start the night off with a presentation; then we are bringing it local with a panel conversation between Urban Sprouts, Garden for the Environment and other local food leaders. Wine and snacks included! The Green Arcade will be on hand for individuals interested in purchasing a copy of the book.

Growing a Garden City is a surprising, inspiring read by Jeremy N. Smith, and was named a "Top 10 Book on the Environment for 2011" by Booklist.
