Truly Bavarian Biergarten
at Biergarten
The guys behind Suppenküche did not rest on their laurels when they opened their Hayes Valley biergarten (that's "beer garden" for you non-German drinkers). There's good reason why the imported Regensburg tables are packed on sunny days: with six rotating German imports on tap, served up in steins by the liter and half-liter, and Bavarian treats galore, it's as close to perfect as outdoor drinking gets in San Francisco. And now the addition of a weekly Wednesday burger night is icing on the German chocolate cake.
Now, Biergarten brings burgers alongside beer and brats on Wednesdays. For $12, you can sink your teeth into a 100 percent grass-fed, half-pound Prather Ranch patty with toppings that vary weekly. Some recent combinations have included caper aioli, bacon, caramelized onions, house-made pickles, and little gem lettuce, as well as feta aioli, caramelized fennel, and pickled shallots.

Say guten Tag to traditional biergarten fare: pretzel knot sandwiches, potato or beet salad, and beer-poached bratwurst. Six brews on tap (they’ll rotate regularly), plus a bottled option (potential specialties not available at Suppenküche), create a veritable wunderland of German drinking choices.
