At Commonwealth, the food isn't the only thing that's 'progressive' – the restaurant's take on philanthropy is equally avant-garde. While diners indulge in cutting-edge, downright divine dishes, part of the satisfaction comes from the opportunity to help local non-profits.
Founded by a host of foodie do-gooders, Commonwealth has built its reputation (and lived up to its name) by donating $10 from each of Executive Chef Jason Fox's inventive tasting menus ($65) to a local non-profit. But as a dining destination, it’s certainly no charity case. This hot spot draws on a diverse culinary repertoire to arrive at a progressive take on American cuisine, all constructed with first-rate seasonal ingredients. From the cooked to perfection pork, to the simple deconstructed s’more, the pure creativity makes the tasting menu price a non-issue. And with a menu just as eclectic as its beneficiaries, Commonwealth sets the bar for innovative cooking – and concepts.
