FoodLab is a pop-up restaurant featuring a rotating line-up of A-list and up-and-coming chefs and their extraordinary food. In an effort to support the local community and Bay Area culinary entrepreneurs, we’re hosting dinners 4-6 nights a week and lunch 5 days a week. The restaurant space, located alongside the lobby of the Renoir Hotel at 1106 Market Street, can accommodate 49 people, features local designer Kelly Malone and a bar offering local beer and wine.
Just last week we got word that the ground-floor spaces of the Renoir Hotel at 7th and Market were getting a hipster-fication of sorts, with a new bar from the Bon Vivants called Rio Grande set for a June 1 opening (in what was once Etiquette), and a new rotating pop-up space and commercial kitchen called SF FoodLab, from Matt Cohen of Off the Grid and partners Gabriel Cole and Mark Walker.
Nary a week later, as noted by a few mediasphere folks, the pop-ups are underway with this week’s Sol Food lunchtime affair, which is scheduled to run during weekdays through June. That’s not all though. Starting the week of June 6, Lima Peru will do Wednesday night dinners and Brett & Nathan Niebergall of Southern Sandwiches will do Friday night dinners, focusing on southern dishes that don’t translate as well to the truck scene.
