Brunch at Foreign Cinema is one of the few universally loved San Francisco dining experiences. The food is seasonal, delicious, and invitingly inventive. The space is beautifully crafted to feel intimate and romantic at any time of day. The staff is always-attentive, never pushy, and seem genuinely happy to discuss the menu.

Pro Tip

"If you get the upstairs room, you get a perfect view of the courtyard and the movie projection."

Penny Yuan

Brunch at Foreign Cinema might not include a movie, but it has its own unique allure. The primary draw remains the same: the food. While the menu’s often changing, there are a few not-to-miss staples you can find year round. The house pop-tart filled with seasonal fruit, is a delightful artisan ode to childhood (try ordering a “pop-tart” without smiling). The beef carpaccio carries over from the dinner to the brunch menu with ease.

It’s so delicately done that it won’t weigh you down and makes a great starter if you’re planning on ordering a sweet main dish like the french toast. The real treat at Foreign Cinema’s brunch? The Bloody Mary.

And take note: Dinner at Foreign Cinema in front of a black and white classic film is a blueprint for a great date.
