Trust San Francisco to upgrade this classic dish – at Little Skillet, the waffles are Belgian-style, the chickens are free range from Petaluma, and dessert includes red velvet cupcakes. Bon Appetit names this food stand’s fried chicken one of the ten best in the country.
Little Skillet is cash-only!
"For first timers, go simple: chicken + waffles = surprisingly delicious"
"Avoid at noon as the line is outrageous..."
"Cento (next door) serves Blue Bottle coffee (great lattes). Perfect for fighting off the food coma that will almost certainly follow your feast..."
Little Skillet fries up over 400 chickens a week, possibly because of its many repeat customers, with many fans visiting three or four times a week. Expect a long line during lunch hour, but don’t let that deter you from arriving earlier rather than later as the counter closes promptly at 2:30 pm. Or better yet, beat the crowd by calling ahead with your order.
