Bowling in a bowling alley: a good start. But add potent drinks and food on a stick, and now we’ve really got something ... Welcome Mission Bowling Club, a six-lane bowling fun house that’s also serving up cocktails and fried chicken on a stick, opening tonight on 17th Street.
The food menu was developed by Anthony Myint, of Mission Chinese Food and Commonwealth fame.
Make a reservation to save time. Mission Bowling Club only has six lanes, and takes reservations for three of them (the rest are available for walk-ins).
MBC is strictly 21 and over Monday-Friday. Family bowling is on Saturdays & Sundays, from 12-7pm.
"The burger is awesome. Great cocktails!"
It might seem odd to hang around over a couple of courses and cocktails at a bowling alley, but the restaurant and bar section of Mission Bowling Club could easily stand alone in the neighborhood with or without the lanes. Most of the menu items are ideal for sharing amongst your hungry bowling team, and with only six games of bowling going on at once, there's a strong chance bowlers will end up waiting a bit anyhow.
MBC’s open kitchen’ll be throwing down high-concept bar snacks like Thai beef jerky and an everything pretzel with fantastically rhyming lardo mostardo; more-than-snacks from a roast chicken Caesar (w/ griddled bread and gastronomically gelled spheres of dressing), and the infamous Mission Burger (a half-pound of never-compacted aged beef that's hard-fried in beef fat w/ caramelized onion, Monterey jack, and caper aioli); plus an entire section devoted to food on a stick.
