Order up the city’s favorite sausage from Rosamunde in the lower Haight, and enjoy it next door at the legendary Toronado bar, paired with any of over a hundred beers. Rosamunde’s flavorful offerings include Cajun andouille, wild boar with apple, duck with figs, and weiss-, brat-, and knockwursts.
Though Rosamunde’s reputation is built on brats, they do serve a mean burger — but only on Tuesdays. Go early — they always sell out.
Both Rosamunde’s and Toronado are cash-only.
The Beer Sausages. They are #44 on 7x7 Magazine's list of 100 Things To Try Before You Die.
"Rosamunde also has a Mission St. location — beer garden style."
"The duck and fig sausage is my favorite."
Their beer sausage, with smoked spicy pork and beef, begs to be paired with a sweet, toasted malt ale. Every sausage includes two toppings of your choice, so layer on the grilled onions, sauerkraut, sweet or hot peppers, or beef chili.
You immediately notice the heft of Rosamunde's burger when you lift it out of its nest of wax paper. A half-pound patty this thick can sit on the grill for a little while and still keep some pink at the center, and so even as its juice still runs, the Rosamunde burger comes with a healthy dose of char. With that prominent grilled flavor, this patty tastes like the burger you wish would come off your neighbor's backyard barbecue on a Sunday afternoon.
