Shafer Vineyards Winemaker Dinner

at Spruce

In 1972 John Shafer purchased land in the Stag’s Leap District of the Napa Valley, betting that its rocky hillsides were perfect for cabernet sauvignon. His first vintage of cabernet became a benchmark, winning several local competitions. $140, exclusive of tax and gratuity. To reserve, please call us at 415 931 5100.

In an international blind tasting held in Germany in the 1980’s, Shafer placed first amongst several top estates from Bordeaux including Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château Palmer. Today, Shafer is regarded as one of the top wineries in the Napa Valley, focusing not only on cabernet, but also on chardonnay, merlot and grenache. This dinner will showcase Shafer’s range of styles paired beautifully with a menu crafted by Chef Walter Abrams.
