Drinks and a Movie

at Sundance Kabuki Cinema

This place takes moviegoing to an entirely new level. A striking structure built with sustainable materials, the Sundance Kabuki Theatre boasts two swanky bars and reserved seating at every show, making it an ideal spot for a date night. It's no wonder that Kabuki was voted Best Movie Theater 2012 by SF Weekly.

Founded by Robert Redford’s brainchild the Sundance Group, the SF Kabuki Theatre presents as luxurious a moviegoing experience as is conceivable. And in keeping with its sophisticated taste, Kabuki has a special drinking section – the 21+ Balcony Bar where guests can order up a cocktail and have their popcorn too. And if the Kalua pork sandwich or ahi tuna tartare don’t appeal to the hungry, the Sundance Kitchen next door offers full restaurant selections.

The Sōsh Insider

Pro Tip

"Because the theatre allows visitors to pick seats ahead of time, the Kabuki is the best place to catch a show on opening night." — The Sōsh Concierge

Pro Tip

"Great date night venue. Stay away from the red velvet cake (it's never fresh and tastes like Play-Doh). Great atmosphere and well worth the extra $3 for intermission. The balcony in auditorium 1 is the best in my opinion. No kids and you can relax with a glass of wine while you enjoy your film." — Jesse Papocchia

Pro Tip

"The reservation system for movies is awesome and works great... Except the day the movie comes out. If you want to see a movie here the day it comes out, plan to buy tickets a day in advance to avoid sitting front and center. " — Myron Nagalingam
