SF Ballet: Nutcracker

at War Memorial Opera House

The first ballet company to bring the Nutcracker tradition to America, San Francisco Ballet's awe-inspiring production is like no other.

Set in San Francisco during the 1915 World's Fair, Clara's dreamlike journey is an ode to the City's historical grandeur - all amidst colorful, larger than life scenery, over 200 dazzling costumed characters, and of course Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score performed live by the world-class San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.

"I'd never seen the Nutcracker before. Turns out it's a really fun & lighthearted ballet. Pretty short too--only about 90-120mins total.

The sets in the first act were incredible!" — Rishi Mandal

Critical Acclaim

"The Opera House is home to the SF Opera, North America's 2nd largest opera company, and the SF Ballet, which the New York Times calls "the most impressively diverse ballet company in America."" — The Sōsh Concierge

Pro Tip

"Park nearby at the Performing Arts Garage. The entrance is on Grove St, between Franklin and Gough." — The Sōsh Concierge
